Tata Aeris Launched in India New Compact Sedan Gets Fresh Design, Premium Features and CNG Option
Tata Motors has launched the new Tata Aeris in India, introducing a heavily updated compact sedan that replaces the Tigor nameplate. The new model has been launched at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 5.29 lakh. With a redesigned exterior, updated cabin and more technology, the Aeris brings a fresh identity to Tata’s sub-four-metre sedan lineup.
Fresh Exterior Design
The Tata Aeris receives noticeable styling changes compared with the outgoing Tigor. At the front, the sedan gets slimmer headlamps with integrated DRLs, a revised grille area and a redesigned bumper with distinctive C-shaped elements. LED fog lamps are also part of the updated design. The rear section continues the familiar notchback profile but receives revised lighting and bumper detailing.
Modern Cabin With Premium Features
Inside, the Aeris gets a substantially revised dashboard inspired by Tata’s newer compact cars. The cabin features a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument display, two-tone interior treatment and a redesigned steering wheel. Depending on the variant, buyers can also get a wireless charging facility, rear AC vents and other convenience features.
1.2-Litre Petrol Engine
The Tata Aeris is powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine producing around 85 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. The petrol powertrain is available with both a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT transmission. This combination keeps the car focused on everyday city and highway usability.
CNG Variant Also Available
A major highlight of the new Aeris is its CNG powertrain. The iCNG version uses Tata’s twin-cylinder CNG technology and produces approximately 74.5 bhp and 96.5 Nm. It is also offered with manual and AMT transmission options, giving buyers greater flexibility depending on their daily driving requirements.
Technology and Safety
The Aeris brings several modern features to the compact sedan segment. Higher variants are expected to offer a 360-degree camera, digital driver display, connected technology and other convenience equipment. Safety equipment includes six airbags as standard, while electronic safety systems are also available depending on the configuration.

The CNG lineup starts at approximately Rs 6.29 lakh ex-showroom, with higher CNG variants also available. The final on-road price will vary according to the city, registration charges, insurance and applicable taxes.
Rivals in the Segment
The Tata Aeris enters the competitive sub-four-metre sedan category, where it will compete with models such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze. Its combination of petrol and CNG powertrains, updated styling and technology gives Tata another option in this segment.
