Maruti Suzuki Dzire Launched New Variant: CNG Automatic Brings Mileage and Convenience Together

Maruti Suzuki has expanded the popular Maruti Suzuki Dzire sedan range in India with a new CNG automatic variant. Launched under the company’s Auto Green Mission, the Dzire S-CNG now gets a five-speed Auto Gear Shift, commonly called AMT, for the first time. The new version combines factory-fitted CNG technology with clutch-free driving, targeting customers who want lower running costs without giving up automatic convenience.

Dzire New CNG Automatic Variant Price

The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG AMT is available in VXi and ZXi trims. Prices start at Rs 8.53 lakh for the VXi variant, while the ZXi version costs Rs 9.53 lakh, ex-showroom India. According to Maruti Suzuki, these are introductory prices. The CNG AMT variants command a Rs 35,000 premium over the corresponding manual CNG versions.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire Efficient Z-Series Engine

The new variant uses Maruti Suzuki’s 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Z12E petrol engine with Dual Variable Valve Timing and Idle Start Stop technology. In CNG mode, the engine develops around 69.75 PS and 101.8 Nm of torque. The powertrain is paired with a five-speed AMT that automatically operates the clutch and changes gears, while drivers can also select gears manually when required.

The combination is aimed particularly at city users who spend considerable time in congested traffic. The two-pedal setup eliminates the need to repeatedly operate a clutch, while the CNG fuel system is designed to keep running costs comparatively low.

36.47km/kg Claimed Efficiency

One of the biggest highlights of the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG AMT is its claimed fuel efficiency. Maruti Suzuki says the sedan delivers 36.47km/kg, with the figure certified by a testing agency under the applicable government testing procedure. The company says this makes the automatic CNG Dzire India’s most fuel-efficient sedan, based on JATO Dynamics certification dated September 18, 2026.

The manual CNG Dzire has a claimed efficiency of 33.73km/kg, meaning the new AMT version records a higher certified figure. Actual fuel economy, however, can vary according to traffic, driving style, load and road conditions.

Practical CNG Technology

Maruti Suzuki continues to use its factory-integrated S-CNG system, developed and tested at its research and development facility. The system includes an intelligent injection setup for controlling the air-fuel ratio, while stainless-steel pipes and joints are used in the CNG structure. A microswitch prevents the vehicle from starting during CNG refuelling.

The Dzire also gets Idle Start Stop technology, which can shut the engine off during suitable traffic conditions and restart it when required. The company says this technology is intended to help reduce fuel consumption, particularly in stop-and-go driving.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire Features and Safety

The Dzire remains equipped with features such as a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, automatic climate control, connected-car technology and a sunroof on applicable variants. Higher trims also offer a 360-degree camera and other convenience features.

Safety equipment includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Program, Hill Hold Assist, ISOFIX child-seat anchorages and three-point seatbelts. The current Dzire has also received a five-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, adding to its appeal among family buyers.

Market Position

The new CNG AMT variant broadens the Dzire’s appeal by bringing automatic convenience to a fuel-efficient factory-fitted CNG sedan. It sits alongside petrol manual, petrol AMT and CNG manual versions, giving buyers more choices across different budgets and driving requirements.

With the new automatic CNG option, Maruti Suzuki is targeting urban motorists seeking a combination of convenience, efficiency and familiar sedan practicality.
