Citroen has expanded the Citroen BasaltX range in India with new variants aimed at giving buyers more flexibility in terms of performance, comfort and pricing. The latest update, announced on September 7, 2026, adds more powertrain choices while strengthening the SUV coupe’s position in the competitive Indian market.
The updated Citroen BasaltX range now includes the BasaltX YOU Turbo and BasaltX MAX NA variants. The introductory ex-showroom prices are ₹9.99 lakh for the YOU Turbo and ₹11.34 lakh for the MAX NA. Citroën has also introduced a festive-season finance scheme, with the first-year EMI starting at ₹9,999 for the BasaltX, subject to applicable terms and eligibility.
This wider range allows customers to choose between a turbocharged petrol setup and a naturally aspirated petrol option depending on their driving requirements and budget.
The Citroen BasaltX continues to offer Citroen BasaltX 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. The official specifications list 110hp and 190Nm with the six-speed manual transmission, while the automatic version produces 205Nm and uses a six-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox.
The turbo engine gives the Basalt X a strong balance between everyday city driving and highway performance. Its coupe-SUV design also helps it stand out from more conventional compact SUVs.
Comfort remains one of the biggest highlights of the BasaltX. The model features ventilated Tropicool seats, a premium soft-touch dashboard, ambient lighting, wireless charging and a large 25.4cm Android touchscreen. Citroën also offers a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster and enhanced rear-seat comfort features.
The Basalt X Comfort Edition introduced earlier also brought premium Metropolitan Beige leatherette seats and optional comfort-focused accessories, including JBL audio, a reverse camera and a wireless charger.

One of the most distinctive technologies available with the BasaltX is CARA, Citroen intelligent in-car companion. The system is designed to provide conversational assistance and interact with vehicle functions, adding a technology-focused element to the SUV coupe.
The vehicle can also feature a HALO 360-degree camera system, cruise control with speed limiter and Proxi-Sense PEPS technology, depending on the variant.
Safety equipment includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Program, Hill Hold Control, TPMS and ISOFIX child-seat mounting points. These features are aimed at making the Basalt X suitable for both family use and longer journeys.
The updated Citroën Basalt X brings together coupe-inspired styling, turbo-petrol performance, modern technology and a comfort-focused cabin. With new variants starting at ₹9.99 lakh, Citroën is clearly targeting buyers who want something more distinctive than a conventional compact SUV. The expanded lineup could make the Basalt X an even more attractive option during the festive buying season.
BMW India has expanded its electric luxury-car portfolio with the launch of the new BMW i5 LWB (Long Wheelbase). Priced at Rs 79.60 lakh (ex-showroom), the electric sedan becomes BMW India’s first locally produced electric sedan and is assembled at the company’s Chennai facility. Designed specifically to deliver additional rear-seat space and a more comfortable chauffeur-driven experience, the i5 LWB combines the familiar character of the 5 Series with a fully electric powertrain.
The new i5 LWB measures 5,175mm in length, 2,156mm in width and 1,520mm in height, while its 3,105mm wheelbase creates a particularly spacious rear cabin. BMW says it is the largest and longest car in its segment, with the extended proportions aimed at customers who place a strong emphasis on rear-seat comfort. The design features an illuminated BMW kidney grille, adaptive LED headlights, slim LED tail-lamps and 20-inch M alloy wheels.
Inside, the electric sedan focuses heavily on premium comfort. The cabin combines a modern dashboard with high-quality materials, a panoramic glass roof and BMW’s latest digital interface. CraftedClarity crystal elements add a premium touch, while the Bowers & Wilkins surround-sound system is designed to provide an immersive audio experience. Rear passengers can also benefit from generous legroom and provisions for mounting personal tablets or entertainment devices.
Powering the BMW i5 eDrive35L is an electric motor producing 268hp and 410Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a single-speed transmission. The sedan can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 6.7 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 195kmph. Rather than focusing solely on outright acceleration, BMW has tuned the i5 LWB to provide smooth and refined performance suitable for both city traffic and long-distance highway travel.
The car uses an 81.6kWh high-voltage battery pack and offers a claimed range of up to 669km under the MIDC testing cycle. BMW also provides a complimentary wallbox charger with installation. The i5 LWB supports DC fast charging at up to 160kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in a claimed 33 minutes. This combination of long range and fast charging makes the sedan more practical for owners who regularly travel between cities.
Ride comfort is another major highlight. The BMW i5 LWB receives adaptive rear-axle air suspension and increased ground clearance developed with Indian road conditions in mind. The suspension is intended to absorb uneven surfaces while maintaining stability at higher speeds. BMW has also equipped the car with comfort-oriented suspension tuning, helping create a relaxed experience for rear passengers without sacrificing the brand’s characteristic driving dynamics.

The safety and driver-assistance package is equally comprehensive. The i5 LWB offers advanced driver assistance technologies, active cruise control and parking assistance features designed to reduce the stress of navigating busy urban environments. Multiple airbags, electronic stability systems and advanced braking technologies further strengthen its safety credentials.
BMW has launched the i5 LWB in the eDrive35L M Sport specification, while an exclusive First Edition was offered to the first 99 customers. BMW confirmed that all 99 First Edition units had sold out before the official launch, indicating strong initial interest in the new electric sedan.
With its Rs 79.60 lakh price, 669km claimed range, spacious rear cabin and locally assembled status, the BMW i5 LWB gives premium-car buyers a compelling electric alternative to traditional executive sedans. It also strengthens BMW’s localisation strategy while expanding the company’s electric portfolio in India. For buyers seeking luxury, technology, comfort and zero-emission driving in one package, the i5 LWB arrives as one of BMW’s most significant new electric offerings for the Indian market in 2026, for modern premium Indian families.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno 2026 New Facelift Brings Level 2 ADAS, Fresh Engine and Premium Features
Maruti Suzuki has given its popular premium hatchback a major update with the launch of the 2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift in India. The refreshed model arrives with a new petrol engine, revised styling, additional comfort equipment and a major technology upgrade in the form of Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). With prices starting at around ₹6.10 lakh ex-showroom, the updated Baleno aims to strengthen Maruti Suzuki's position in India's competitive premium hatchback segment.
The latest Baleno continues to be sold through Maruti Suzuki's NEXA retail network. While the overall silhouette remains familiar, the facelift introduces enough visual changes to give the hatchback a more contemporary identity. The front section receives a redesigned NEXWave grille with a wider appearance, horizontal chrome elements and a revised bumper. New detailing around the front and a shark-fin antenna further enhance its premium character. The car is offered in seven colour options, including a new Enigmatic Teal shade.
One of the most important changes is under the bonnet. The 2026 Baleno gets Maruti Suzuki's 1.2-litre Z12E three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. It produces 61kW, equivalent to approximately 83hp, and 112.4Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed AGS automatic transmission. Idle Start-Stop technology and Dual VVT are also included to improve efficiency.
According to Maruti Suzuki, the manual version delivers a claimed 23.80kmpl, while the AGS variant returns up to 24.77kmpl. The company says these figures represent improvements of 6.4 percent and 7.9 percent respectively compared with the previous model. The Baleno is also available with a factory-fitted S-CNG powertrain, with the CNG manual version claiming 33.61km/kg.
Safety technology is arguably the biggest highlight of the new Baleno. Maruti Suzuki has introduced Level 2 ADAS using a combination of radar and camera systems. The package includes Advanced Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Adaptive Cruise Control, High Beam Assist, Vehicle Sway Warning and Forward Collision Warning.
The standard safety package has also been strengthened. Six airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Program, Hill Hold Control, reverse parking sensors, three-point seat belts and tyre-pressure monitoring are among the available safety features. This gives the Baleno a significantly more technology-focused safety package than before.
Inside, Maruti Suzuki has focused on improving comfort and convenience. One of the biggest additions is ventilated front seats with leatherette upholstery, claimed to be a segment-first feature. The cabin also gets a nine-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Other highlights include a 360-degree camera, Head-Up Display, wireless smartphone charging with active cooling and a premium Clarion sound system. Suzuki Connect connected-car technology provides more than 40 functions covering vehicle status, safety, security, trips and remote operations.

The updated Baleno continues to compete against established premium hatchbacks such as the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and Toyota Glanza. However, the addition of Level 2 ADAS and ventilated seats gives Maruti Suzuki a stronger technology proposition in this category.
Overall, the 2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno is more than a cosmetic facelift. The new Z12E engine focuses on efficiency, while the expanded safety package and premium cabin equipment make the car considerably more feature-rich. Starting at around ₹6.10 lakh, the new Baleno could appeal to buyers seeking a stylish, efficient and technology-packed hatchback for both urban driving and longer journeys.
